Iran confirmed Monday it had accepted — albeit
reluctantly — a face-saving solution to a uranium enrichment dispute
that could have escalated into referral of Iran to the U.N. Security
Council for sanctions.

CARTAGENA,
Colombia — President Bush said Monday that he hopes Iran's claim that
it has suspended uranium enrichment and has no nuclear weapons
ambitions is true, but "there must be verification."

Iran must "earn the trust of those of us who are
worried about them developing a nuclear weapon," Bush said at a seaside
news conference during a four-hour visit with Colombian President
Alvaro Uribe.

TEHRAN,
Iran - Iran has suspended uranium enrichment and all related
activities, state-run radio reported Monday, honoring an agreement with
Europe designed to head off possible U.N. sanctions.

“To build confidence and in line with implementing
the Paris Agreement, Iran suspended uranium enrichment (and related
activities) as of today,” said the brief radio announcement.

Iran said trying to fit missiles for nukes

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) - The United States has
intelligence indicating Iran is trying to fit missiles to carry nuclear
weapons, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said.

Powell says there is no evidence to suggest Iran has developed technology to make a nuclear weapon.

Iran’s New Alliance with China Could Cost US

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department
has called Iran's promise to freeze all activity related to nuclear
enrichment useful but said the suspension had to be verified.

In his first formal comment on the agreement
between Iran and Britain, Germany, France and the European Union, State
Department spokesman sounded a note of optimism on Tuesday along with
Washington's typical scepticism about Iranian promises.

(CBS/AP) Iran said Monday that it was suspending
uranium enrichment and related activities briefly, voluntarily and in
hopes of building confidence in the world that its nuclear ambitions
are peaceful. 

(CNN)
– The U.N. nuclear watchdog says it has found that none of Iran's
declared nuclear material has been diverted for military purposes.

However, a spokesman for the International Atomic
Energy Agency told CNN on Monday that questions remained about possible
undeclared activities.

Mark Gwozdecky said that finding is in a new, internal IAEA report.
