Background: With renewed emphasis on transatlantic relations and in
light of the ongoing struggle to define and implement the Lisbon
process, Daniel Cohn-Bendit, on behalf of the Greens/EFA Group in the
European Parliament, has invited three distinguished Europeans to a
panel debate on "The European Dream - America's Nightmare?" with the
renowned American writer Jeremy Rifkin, author of The European Dream.

* Photo opportunity: The birth of the Kyoto Protocol 
* Location: Rond Pont Schuman, Brussels, in front of the globe
Background: On Wednesday the first international treaty on greenhouse
gas reduction will enter into force. In celebration of this first step
towards halting climate change, the European Greens will hold a short
demonstration. A delegation of Green MEPs and activists will travel
from the European Parliament to Rond Point Schuman with specially
produced green umbrellas printed with the slogan "Stop Climate
The group are scheduled to depart from between the ASP and PHS buildings of the Parliament on Rue Wiertz at 12.00.

* Reception: 17.00 in the Members' Salon, ASP building
Background: Leaders and representatives of European Green parties will
meet in Brussels to discuss and vote on an overall European Green Party
position on the constitution for Europe.
